Ethics & Professional Conduct

McCracken Search is committed to acting in an ethical and professional manner in everything we do. In this regard, we endorse and follow the Code of Ethics and Professional Practice Guidelines of the Association of Executive Search Consultants. Included in the professional practice policies specific to this firm are:

1) We will not actively recruit the successful candidate in any assignment we are executing, while they are in the specific role they assumed with our involvement, for a period of five (5) years.

2) We will not recruit from current or recent clients. Specifically, clients - or, in the case of very large organizations, specific country or other defined business units - are "off limits" for a period of two (2) years from the completion date of our last assignment.

3) We value our client relationships highly and stand behind the quality of our work. As such, we gladly guarantee our work. In the event you either terminate the successful candidate or they voluntarily leave your employ during their first twelve (12) months, other than for reasons of health, downsizing, layoff, restructuring or change of control, we will locate and recruit a suitable replacement at no additional cost to you, other than any direct expenses incurred in finding such replacement. The foregoing notwithstanding, should the successful candidate leave your employ for reasons related to your failure, as the employer, to meet any material commitments or representations made to the candidate during the recruitment, we will be under no obligation to secure a replacement.

4) We have an explicitly articulated Privacy Policy. Central to the policy are discretion and confidentiality. Among other things, the policy confirms that information submitted in confidence and entrusted to us by individual candidates, either prospectively or in the context of a specific assignment, will not be released or conveyed to anyone outside our firm, including clients, without the candidate's explicit permission to do so. Confidential information provided by clients will be similarly respected, treated with discretion, kept confidential and released only as authorized. All McCracken Search partners and staff have signed and are required to comply, at all times, with formal Confidentiality Agreements.

Beyond all of the above, we are guided by three simple, but compelling philosophies. They are:

Tell the truth - While this is surprisingly difficult for some people and in some circumstances, we believe the truth is piercing. We also believe, as old-fashioned as it may sound, that honesty isn't just the best policy, it's also the smartest.

Treat others as you would wish to be treated - This is otherwise known as The Golden Rule. Once again, this isn't just the right thing to do, it's also the most intelligent. How we treat people doesn't only reflect upon us. It also reflects upon the clients we represent.

Don't make promises you can't keep or don't intend to keep - In our view, this is the cornerstone of supplier/ client relations. As a supplier of executive search services, we expect to be held accountable. Accordingly, we take our promises seriously and we pride ourselves on meeting and exceeding our commitments.
